I. Regular mode

The multi-campus of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (RKMVU) has its head quarters at Belur Math, Howrah, Paschima Banga. Its Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education (FDMSE) is in Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya , Ooty main road, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu 641 020.

  • The Faculty prepares teachers in the field of Special Education (Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment and Mental Retardation)
  • Special Education courses impart practical and theoretical training for providing professional service to persons with disabilities and their rehabilitation.
  • Anyone who undergoes this course is called a Special teacher or Special educator.
  • Both normal individuals and persons with disabilities can pursue Special Education courses.
  • The Faculty offers the following courses in regular mode approved by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi.

The Faculty, in collaboration with Ramana Sunritya Alaya (RASA), offers a Diploma in Theatre Arts and Holistic Development (DTHAD). The course spans over 10 months. Applications may be submitted to FDMSE or RASA. It’s a teachers training course applying Dance, drama, music storytelling and art & craft for the empowerment of persons with disabilities. It’s a long distance training program (contact classes and self learning). Minimum Qualification is 12th pass. Course is conducted by

The faculty offers Certificate course on Assistive Technology for the Persons with Disabilities. The course spans over 9 months (26 Sundays from August 2014 to March 2015 – 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.).The persons having disabilities such as Visual, Hearing, Speech and Language, Cognitive and Motor Impairments have unique and diverse needs to cope up with everyday activities whether it is education or employment. Assistive Technology devices help to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. This course provides firsthand experience in dealing with such assistive technology for persons with special needs. Candidates with or without disabilities can undergo this course. The candidate after training is expected to learn about a wide range of Assistive Technology applications at home, school, workplace, and community environments which suit the individual needs of persons with disabilities.
